Education Nation
You gotta read this WSJ article. Why are we forcing government to spend more on public education? What do we get in return? Is it "worth" it?
There have been a number of other articles on this judicially mandated approach to "equalizing" the playing field. Check it out. Is legislator-based largess any better than judicially-mandated?

I think a lot of legislators like this. Obviously they don't like the lack of budgetary control that this might create, but they no longer have to be accountable for increases in spending that are created by judicial force.
What reading this tells me, is that education policy is the place to be!! Did you see how much they were getting paid?
