A Very Interesting Person
The founder of Scientology was a very interesting person. His life and just about everything surrounding him is up for debate. The church claims one thing, while most outside it claim another. Additionally, the church has been involved with re-writing history as needed to maintain their stories.
Some questions:
Are all churches like this about their prophets and founder? Is this fanaticism or faith?
A little more on L. Ron Hubbard

All institutions that place some men in authority over others by compulsion employ fanaticism and rewriting of history.
I'd argue that Christianity can be different, and can be entirely anti-statist. It is not completely rational, as some use the word, due to the mysterious nature of the problems it responds to. But it's claims are unique, and its historicity is sound.
