The Perfect Pair

The dynamic Hugo Chávez has spurred the sales of Noam Chomsky's Hegemony or Survival: America's Quest for Global Dominance.

This is a great discussion starter. Do you think Chávez is accurate in his statements about President Bush? What about Chomsky? I don't mean about their world views, but simply about their seemingly contradictory and hypocritical accusations about America, her people, and her President.

Well, I've met the devil and George Bush looks nothing like Al Pachino! Who-ha!

But seriously, folks. Most days I have to google who Hugo Chavez is. Does anyone really feel strongly about what he says?

Though I can't say I'm a Bush supporter myself. His administration has mishandled the war on terror, done nothing to curb our run-away budget deficit (yes it matters), and has generally stumbled over rock in the road.

But do I think he's "evil" (the devil)? Not really. I think he's a pro-active, bull-headed screwup. But that's about it.
So, I wikied Chomsky. I knew the name, but not much about the man. Wiki calls him a libertarian socialist. Yet another reason to eschew the libertarian label for juris naturalism.

I think he and Chavez are right about the American Government's desire to control more and more of the world. As I have said before, the Bill of Rights stops at the border, and powerholders are much freer to encroach on the natural rights of foreigners.
