Treason?

Is treason the right policy? The appropriate use of power? Or the right enemy of the state and society?

Here's the story

Comments:
I think Spooner would have something to say about this.

The guy did leave the country. Is he applying for citizenship in Pakistan? If so, shouldn't his allegiance be to that country, instead of the U.S.?

Of course, I think he's twisted and possibly evil, but I don't think you can be a traitor to a cause in which you never believed and a country which you have physically abandoned.

The ethics of all this are confused by states. He's a traitor. Who did he sell out? The government. Good. Me, too. He's threatening violence to innocent civilians. Not smart, but he has not actually committed a crime. We should not swear our allegiance to any state. The state should swear its allegiance to us.
